PTA NEWS: April 14, 2016

High Tech PTA Newsletter

Dear Families:

Our event — Flappers & Fellas — held last Saturday, April 9, was a huge success! More than 250 people attended and many in fun, 1920s costumes and head wear. Parents, school sponsors and teachers all came ready to celebrate High Tech and support the PTA’s initiative to raise funds for a Spanish Teacher for 2016-17, science related enrichment field trips, community programs and more. Overall, $50,000 was raised through a paddle raise, silent auction and live auction. More than 200 people and local businesses donated, including several teachers to provide wonderful Teacher Treasure experiences for students.

The PTA wholeheartedly thanks the more than 40 amazing volunteers who solicited donations, planned the event, and helped on the night of our event; the event was only possible because of their commitment.

A mini-auction is now open to sell remaining items and buy-a-share parties. Check out the great items and unique buy-a-share parties, including back to school pool parties and adults-only Brews & BBQ: http://hightechpta.cbo.io/. The mini-auction closes on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 10PM.

Additional event details and breakdowns will be discussed at April’s PTA meeting on Tuesday, April 19 (see details below).

APRIL PTA MEETING – TUESDAY, APRIL 19 at 6:30-8PM

April’s PTA meeting will be held on a Tuesday (vs. its regular 3rd Wednesday evening slot). The meeting will feature a special guest, Dr. Richard Villa, national presenter on the value of inclusive practices in schools. UNIFORM RECYCLING – WEDNESDAY APRIL 20 at 4-5PM

The PTA’s Uniform Recycling Committee will be selling gently used uniforms on Wednesdays after school on 4/20 from 4-5PM in the Community Room (off of the Cafeteria). Get your donations in to earn credits to spend at the sale. Contact courtneyjarchow@yahoo.com if you have a donation or leave your items (washed and in good shape) in the front office with your name and “UNIFORM RECYCLING” clearly marked.

WHAT IS A BUY-A-SHARE PARTY?

Buy-A-Share Parties are fun get-togethers that benefit our school and our children. Here’s how they work: generous parents host fun parties that have a set theme, ticket price, number of attendees and date. The host families cover the event costs and all funds raised from tickets purchased go back to the school. There are only a limited number of spots available for each party! Even thought the auction is over, there are still a few buy-a-share parties available for attendance: http://hightechpta.cbo.io/.

BOX TOPS

April Box Tops are due Friday, April 29. Please turn your Box Tops into the collection box located outside of the main office with your student’s name and teacher on the bag. The class that brings in the most Box Tops each month will earn a free-dress day the following month.
