Dear Families:
This week’s PTA News is dedicated to our upcoming call for Executive Members nominations. The PTA Board is made up of the four executive members: president, vice president, secretary and treasurer and the five standing board members: fundraising, community, communication, nominating and membership.
At the February 17 general PTA meeting, our Nominating Chair will ask for nominations for our four executive members: president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. Please come ready to nominate someone you know (they MUST be present) or yourself for one of these positions — no prior PTA board experience required.
PTA Executive Members – Job Descriptions
President: The President shall: 1) preside at all meetings; 2) serve as an ex-officio member of all committees except the nominating and audit committees; 3) coordinate the work of the officers and committees; 4) perform such other duties as may be directed by the Board of Directors; and 5) appoint standing and special committees, as needed.
Vice President: The Vice President shall: 1) serve as aide to the president; 2) perform the duties of the president in the president’s absence or inability to serve; 3) coordinate the work of the Safety Week Chair, Nutrition Week Chair, Uniform Recycling Program Chair and Yearbook Chair and 4) perform such other duties as may be directed by the president or the Board of Directors.
Secretary: The Secretary shall: 1) record the minutes of all meetings; 2) be prepared to read the records of any previous meeting; 3) file and maintain all meeting records; 4) have access to the current approved copy of the bylaws (online); 5) maintain the current membership list; and 6) perform such other duties as may be directed by the president or the Board of Directors.
Treasurer: The Treasurer shall: 1) have custody and maintain a full account of the funds; 2) make disbursements as authorized by the president or the Board of Directors in accordance with the adopted budget; 3) be one of the signatory on all PTA accounts; 4) provide a financial report to the Board of Directors at each meeting; 5) provide an annual report; 6) submit the books annually for a financial review/audit by an auditor; and 7) perform such other duties as may be directed by the president or the Board of Directors.
The executive elections are conducted at the March PTA meeting and the new Board Members take office in May. This is an exciting opportunity to get more involved with the High Tech community.
We are filling our school halls with LOVE this February. A reminder that Art Hearts and additional hearts that were purchased will be on display starting Friday, Feb. 12 throughout the school and stay up for the rest of the month.

We need parent volunteers to help run the Hawk Store.
February Bow Tops are due Friday, Feb. 26, since we do not have school on the last day of the month (school is closed Monday, Feb. 29 for teacher conferences).
