Dear Families:
Our second community event of the year is right around the corner. The PTA’s annual Fall Festival celebrates the changing of the seasons. This year’s celebration will be hay bales of fun for the entire family. All PTA community events are free and provide the HTES students, families, and teachers/staff a chance to spend time together in a fun setting. If your child or children have a costume to wear, have them put it on (but it is ok if they don’t) and enter our costume parade, get some popcorn and apple cider, take a hayride around the playground, and then join us to learn some easy square dance steps. Mark your calendars for Sunday, October 25 from 4-6PM!
Original Works is in the Works
Our annual fundraiser that takes your child’s artwork and puts it on high quality gifts is currently underway. The kids have started creating their masterpieces. You will see more information and order forms come home in backpacks. After you get a chance to see what your child has made, you can decide what holiday, birthday, grandparents day, etc. gifts it would look perfect on for family and friends. A percentage of all orders come directly back to the PTA and our HTES Hawks!
Parent Education at PTA Meetings
New this year, at most PTA meetings, we will conduct our regular business for the first 30 minutes (6:30-7PM) and offer parent education for the last hour (7-8PM). Child care is provided for children ages 3+. The next meeting is Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 6:30-8PM in the school cafeteria. October’s parent education will focus on bullying since October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Our guest speaker, Elon Cohen, the Founder and Executive Director of ‘Be a Friend, Make a Friend’ in Denver, will facilitate an interactive session to help us, as parents and educators, be a part of the solution to end bullying in our school and community.
Parenting Safe Children with Feature Berkower
Another wonderful opportunity for parent education takes place next month. “Parenting Safe Children – Keeping children safe from sexual abuse,” with Feather Berkower, LCSW, will be at HTES on Saturday, November 14 from 10AM to 2PM and the cost is $53.75. Space is limited – please register early at register at http://bit.ly/1LMZGJO. If you have questions about this event, visit Feather’s site or talk to someone who has already attended her presentation. Over and over again you will hear people say how important this topic is and how eye-opening Feather’s talk is. The HTES event is open to the community, so please invite friends and family. We have special pricing for educators. If you have questions, please contact Allison Pettersson, our parent liaison for this event.
Hallowine & Cheese – LAST DIRECT GIVING PARTY
Our last Direct Giving event of the year is quickly approaching. Join us for a frightfully fun evening of wine, cheese, costumes (not required, but festive), (more) Jell-O shots, raffle items, and time to relax and socialize. Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 6:30PM. RSVP today.
