Dear Families:
Have you seen the school’s promotion of Avid4Adventure’s upcoming “Outdoor Education Intensive” day at High Tech? It sounds awesome and each child will have access to a portable rock climbing wall, a mountain bike skills course, a kayak paddle tank, and a “Leave No Trace” outdoor classroom. What you might not know is that the PTA made this day possible by paying a portion of the costs for every single HTES student ($10.60/student) to make it affordable for families. Which means we need to get EVERY student at this event to make our money count. Please sign up by 10/7/15 and talk to friends to make sure their student’s are signed up (http://avid4.com/high-tech-on-campus-program/).
Speaking of PTA programs…another tool that the PTA has paid for is the MySchoolAnywhere directory. As mentioned last week, this tool will give the PTA a direct line of communication to each family. Sign up today and make sure other parents in your child’s classroom are in the tool, too. New families, please visit http://bit.ly/1LN1rXe to add in your information. Returning families, visit http://bit.ly/1Fem5D3 to update your information. Thank you in advance for your help with this process.

Parents may ask, “why do we need to raise so much money for High Tech?” Here are some statistics that help answer this question:
- Last year, Colorado spent $1,872 less per pupil than the national average, continuing a 25-year slide in national competitiveness.
- Colorado ranks 41st in technology in schools — 2015-2016 Funding for Technology is ONLY $8/Student per year.
- $0.00 of District funding is allocated toward musical instruments.
- Colorado’s annual direct state funding for professional development and teacher mentoring programs is $0.
What does this mean? Every amount donated to our PTA helps! If half of HTES families donated $50/month for the next 12 months, we’d raise over $125,000. And, if ALL HTES families donated $50/month for the next 12 months, we’d raise over $250,000.
